Integrative Toolkits, Plug-n-Play Programming, Training & Consulting for Facilities
TRANSformation Academy
Why You Need This
Most mental health and addition treatment facilities have blind spots when it comes to serving TGI clients and building aftercare solutions for them. Unconditional positive regard and correct name/pronoun usage is something; but it isn’t enough. When contact between those with TGI identities is limited, and specific TGI insights aren’t present, treatment outcomes are likewise limited.
Clinical Blindspots in Most Treatment Programs
If your treatment program doesn’t employ clinicians who can articulate or put into practice the following subject-matter expertise, it’s time to seek out consultants who can help get you there
-
Deep insight into what causes dysphoria and how distress related to the mismatch between gender identity and assigned-at-birth anatomy manifests in day to day life
-
Knowledge of the various ways in which transition journeys differ and are pursued, milestones associated with such and their interaction with co-occurring conditions
-
Insight into the historical correlates of modern trans experience, mischaracterization, healthcare trauma and damaging legal/political phenomena
-
Insight into working with and adapting interventions to populations where neurodivergence and TGI identity intersect
-
Community agreements and interventions incorporating theories and practices to understand individual challenges in relation to inqeuitable, normative structural systems (racial, ethnic, ability, size, sexual and gender minority).
-
Specific understanding of developmental aspects of 2SLGBTQIA+ experiences and their implications
-
Insight into certain conditions prevalent within TGI communities, e.g. POTS, MCAS, EDS, ME/CFS, fibromyalgia
-
Embodied sensitivity to the manner in which reasonable and adaptive distrust of healthcare systems arises within TGI populations
-
Sensitivity to traumatizing experiences of religion and spirituality and the dysphoric impact of a gendered god in 12-step traditions
-
Sex-positive insight into multi-variate channels of intimacy, partnership, community and play for 2SLGBTQIA+ populations
-
Substance-enabled sexual activity with longterm neural implications and intimacy consequences
-
Considerations related to prescription of medications to those pursuing hormone replacement therapy
